London calling*

Writer's picture: Peter FitzpatrickPeter Fitzpatrick

Today's Blog comes courtesy of our own Cockney Rebel Martin Briggs who managed to make notes whilst playing in this morning's Ruskin session The weather was very pleasant for the frozen north factor 30 sun block the order of the day As befitting the conditions there was a fine turn out with 21 members hell bent on enjoying this rare event for this uncharted territory chief

The teams selected were;

Purple - Sheila, Steve Honeyman, Andy Capt.,Mike Ox, Dave Seagull, Tom Stretch, Mika, Tony Snakehips, Citeh Geoff and Grav

Neon Yellow - Les Meldrew, Colin the Late, Andy Brown, Steve Ford, cockney Rebel, Tom Derby, Chopper, Goldie, Phil the Power, Anita and Mark Davies (no relation)

In recognition of the event Martin has provided a couple pf snaps taken on his Olympus Trip bought off a geezer in Shepherds Bush market proper gear that

The game despite being a 10 v 11 was a tight affair with just 2 goals to show for all the effort extended Anita found the net with a well placed shot from the edge of the area Captain Andy replied for Purple from slightly further from goal Special mention to Mike Andrews who had an an outstanding game Our reporter claimed that the pitch was in a bit of a 'two and eight' with divots in the surface - or perhaps he's merely trying to explain away his wayward shooting Three efforts all miles away before he eventually launched another effort into the stratosphere The game was enjoyed by all with Les taking on the role of unofficial referee There was evidence too of sunning and even some slide tackle attempts (not One More again?)

At the final whistle the sides shook hands and enjoyed the usual wit and banter

Those who ventured for a tea or coffee in the sumptuous surroundings of the Slipper Room were treated to chocolate cake to celebrate Tom Stretch's Birthday
