Hi O'Hooligan here.
Most normal folks hope a windfall will be a Lottery win or something very pleasant like that but not me Instead my windfall was a batch of hearing aid batteries! Don't ask for details as it is a long story!
On Monday I decided to share my windfall with Wickie and Lord Rainford as they are both hearing aid users As we gathered what a strange sight it must have been Three of us trying to use sign language; as not one of us had our hearing aids in operation, sharing out these new batteries. It was entirely done without profit (or loss) to any of us
Now we can communicate with you all, if we remember; to firstly put them in and secondly most importantly turn them on!
The games had the usual share of daft incidents across the morning. First was Triallist doing a Premier League dive which brought him a rating of 4.5 from the watching judges. Not very good! Later Lord Rainford had one of his "have it" moments but sadly mishit the his attempt and propelled the ball just 3 inches off the floor Still the ball travelled a fair distance though at the speed of Donald Campbell’s Bluebird!
There are many ways to wind up a referee; shouting, swearing, bad glances and general tantrums to name a few Sheila did a cracker at the start of the second game when she approached El Presidente, who was in charge of the whistle and gave him her glasses just to help him! A Blue card was summarily issued! We retired to the Slipper Salon but sat discontentedly cakeless, perking up briefly when a big delivery van pulled up outside!
Cakes we thought but sadly it was not to be as it was only a delivery of plastic cups! Wickie sped off early to try out his new batteries but left a clear reminder of his influence as Monday Michelle left having forgotten her phone! Seizing the opportunity we tried to take selfies but alas no one could work it!
Wednesday at Sutton Arena. A great turnout and a perfect night to play. Both games outside were really good and it is a pleasure to play with good people who just want a bit of fun and escape the world for an hour. Player of the Match in our game was ‘Come on’ Eileen who always gives her all and asks for no quarters to be given or taken
Well played Mate! Thanks to all for a good week, let's do it again next week!
Cheers 🇮🇪😇
